Thal Kedar Temple
Thal Kedar is a sacred Shaivite pilgrim location. This place is devoted to Lord Shiva and is located at the
distance of 16 kms from Pithoragarh on the hill top. Thal kedar is also highly renowned for its
picturesque beauty. During the occasion of Shivaratri, a number of devotees arrive at this place. It is
said that here one can give the forgiveness of his all sins by doing a prayer with belief and dedication.
The place is sets up at an altitude of 2000 meters above sea level and one can be reached here by
trekking from Nakuleswar temple or Pithoragarh or Aincholi. To reach the Thal kedar temple, tourists
have to go through a slim pathway along the intense vegetations.
Thal Kedar has huge religious important among the locals and frequently visited by lots of devotees and
nature lovers due to its attractive beauty and sacred Shiv Linga. According to Himalayan ranges, the
dolomite rock is roughly 1000 million years old identical to that of Goddess Vaishno Devi. Every year on
the day of Maha Shivratri, a large fair is organized at Thal Kedar that gathers large number of followers
here. The temple of Thal Kedar situated at the top of 8300 feet high peak of Soar valley in Eastern
Kumaon Himalayas.

From the Thal Kedar, more than 700 kms of lovely snow dressed mountains can be viewed which includes Trishul, Badrinath, Nandadevi, Api-Nampa and Punch-Chuli.
