Places to See in Bageshwar

One of the renowned trekking destinations in Uttarakhand, Bageshwar is the finest place to enjoy nature and relax with family and friends. Besides, gushing waters and extensive milieu of snow laden peaks and valleys, Bageshwar has several other places that are worth exploring.

Bagnath Temple
fair is organized. Thousands of devotees and tourist visit here every month and devote their Bagnath temple is devoted to Lord Shiva and is situated in the middle of Bageshwar town. As per the myths, Sage Markanday visited Lord Shiva here in the disguise of the tiger. The Idol of Lord Shiva was built by rulers of Chand Dynasty in 1602 AD. Each year on the occasion of Mahashivratri a huge prayers and offerings to the Deity. The most pleasant time to visit the temple is during the period of Shravan. The temple also has some idols that were constructed long back in the 6th and 7th century.

Shri Haru Temple
Shri Haru temple is located at a mere distance of 5kms from Bageshwar city. Most of the people from Kumaoni community visit the temple. Every year large fair is organized in the proximity of the temple on the occasion of Vijay Dashmi which is attended by locals and tourists.

Chandika Temple
Goddess Chandika is the residing deity here. This temple is located in the vicinity to Bageshwar town and throng of devotees visit here during Navratri.

Gauri Udiyar
Located at distance of 8kms away from Bageshwar is the temple of Gauri Udiyar. There is a cave inside the temple which has ancient idols of Lord Shiva.
