Nainital is well known for its unending scenic beauty and splendor natural resources. Besides this Nainital is also the divisional head office of Kumoun University that contain about the list of 35 affiliated colleges and almost same number of affiliated professional institutes spread over the Kumaun Region. The University was started in 1 December, 1973 under UP state act and it has contains three campuses located at Nainital, Almora and Bhimtal. The area covered by Kumoun University is approx. 155 acres which is quite impressive. The Kumoun University campus in Nainital is known as DSB campus, KU campus Bhimtal and another one in Almora is named as christened SSJ Campus. These beautifully designed campuses merge in perfectly with beautiful surrounding architecture and extreme breath taking scenery.

With headquarter based in Nainital, Kumoun University is “residential cum affiliating” university, plus permanent member of AIU i.e. association of Indian universities. From the time of its existence it has been consistently offered excellent research and high quality teaching in its campuses with emphasis on kumaun region. Academic courses have been separated in the both Nainital campus and Almora campus to ensure the same regional representation and development. The study programs offered by this university are varied from conventional programs, pharmacy, biotechnology and tourism to the professional courses such as taxation, functional English, and tourism. Except this gigantic plants & herbs, as well as minerals, rocks and eco system can be studied at the university. Kumaun University is also raised up awareness in the wide range of topics including medical plants, development of tribes, symmetries and conversation, economic resources, and environment.
