Kalpavriksha
Kalpavriksha is considered as one of the ancient trees and is believed to be above 1,200 years
old. According to myths, this had been the meditation spot for Adi Guru Shri Sankaracharya.
Travelers can also see the cave located near Kalpavriksha, where the saint Adi Shankarachatya
used to reside. This historic Kalpavriksha tree is a mulberry tree and having capacity of bearing
flowers and fresh leaves only not fruits. The height of the Kalpavriksha has been measured to be
around 21.5 meters. Many people do not even know that Kalpavriksha is similarly old as the
Badrinath temple.
Bhavishya Badri
Bhavishya Badri, also called as Bhabisya Badri is a small scared temple located at the distance of
17 kilometer from Joshimath. It is positioned on an ancient pilgrim route to Mount Kailash and
Manasarovar, beside the Dhauli Ganges River and sets up at an elevation of 2,744 meters above
sea level. Bhavishya Badri as the name suggests, is believed to be the home of Lord badrinath in
future. Presently the temple has an image of Parvati, Shivlinga and image of Narasimha, the lion
face statue of Lord Vishnu.
Narsingh Temple
Narsingh Temple is one of the oldest places of Joshimath and is devoted to Narsingh Devta who
is the incarnation of Lord Vishnu. This holy temple is considered as the residence of Shri
Badrinath. Sadly, the statue of Narsingh is getting shrunk day by day. Once the arm falls own, it
would cause a huge road block towards route to Badrinath permanently by destructive land slide.
This is one of the most famous Auli’s attractions spot.
Mana
Located at the distance of 64 kilometer from Joshimath, Mana is very near to Tibet border and it
is one of the end villages of our country. It is occupied by Indo-Mongolian tribes often referred
as Bhotias. Most of the travelers who visit Badrinath also come to glimpse the end of the road at
Mana.
Valley of Flowers
Valley of Flowers National Park is located in the west Himalayas wrapping an area of
87.50sqkms. Tourists can reach there by following an easy trek of 16kilometers begins from
Govindghat towards Valley of Flowers. The whole valley is enclosed with thriving flowers from
the months of June-October and with the heavy sheets of snow in winters. In the year of 1982,
Valley of Flowers was confirmed as the national park and now it is also a world heritage site.
The un-touched beauty of this place attracts several nature lovers and adventure seekers from all
across the world.
Gopeshwar
Located at the distance of 72 kms from Joshimath, Gopeshwar is the administrative headquarters
of the Chamoli district. You can see many ancient holy temples at Gopeshwar with major
religious value. The important attraction spots of this place include ancient temple of Lord Shiva,
marvelous views of the Himalayas and Vaitarni Kund.
Badrinath
Badrinath Temple is one of the most sacred temples in Badrinath District. Situated at the banks
of Alaknanda River surrounded by Nana Parvat, Badrinath Temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu.
The temple was established by saint philosopher Adi Shankaracharya in 8th Century and holds a
small cupola of gilt bull and spire and is built in the shape of a cone. The Badrinath temple is
well known for its Badrinath deity sculpted in black stone, which is around one meter large and
represents Lord Vishnu seated in contemplative pose. The name entrance gate of Badrinath
temple is called as “Singh Dwara” which is major center of attraction of Temple. Besides this,
the temple has stunning 15 idols of different Hindu gods. Millions of domestic as well as foreign
travelers and devotees went to this holy place every year from May- Oct month.
Hemkund Sahib
Hemkund Sahib is popular holy destination and is situated at an altitude of 4,329 meters above
sea level surrounded by various snow covered peaks, which is combined called Hemkund Parvat.
It is believed that Guru Gobind Singh Ji the tenth Guru of Sikhs meditated at Hemkund Sahib for
long time. The name Hemkund means Lake of snow and the holy water of this as cold as snow
A star shaped Gurudwara close to the lake is visited by numerous devotees and travelers every
month. This place is also having a temple devoted to Lakshman, brother of God Ram. People can
reach there by completing a trek of 19km commencing from Govindghat through Ghangaria
