Being the tenth Gurus of Sikhs, Guru Govind Singhji meditated at Hemkund Sahib for over years and perhaps this place has earned huge significance amid Sikh pilgrims. The word Hemkund entirely depicts “Lake of Snow” and the water flowing in this Kund remains cold round the year. Hemkund Sahib is located at an elevated height of 4,329 mts above the sea level amid the snow laden peaks that are unanimously called Hemkund Parvat. The Hemkund gurudwara is a star shaped edifice that is largely visited by thousands of devotees every month. The temple built here is dedicated to Lord Lakshman who was younger brother to Lord Rama. In order to reach here one has to complete 19km long trek from Govindghat to arrive at Hemkund Sahib and the ideal time to visit the place is between July to November.Valley of Flowers
Spreading over a total area of 87.50sq kms, Valley of flowers is a National Park espousing the western Himalayas. To arrive at the National park one has to cover a short trek of 4kms from Ghangaria. The place is completely covered with burgeoning flowers from June to October and with layers of snow in the moths of winters. The place was renowned as a National Park in the year 1982 and currently it is a UNESCO heritage site. The National Park is a major magnetism to botanists, adventure lovers and nature lovers from diverse corners of the world and is home to over 500 species of wild flowers.Ghangaria
Enroute Hemkund Sahib Ghangaria is the last human habitation center and offers amazing sights to natural beauty that would simply take your heart away. Ghangaria is a scenic spot that is located at an elevated height of 3,050mts above the sea level and 13kms away from Govindghat. The trekking path here is easy and best for avid trekkers who love exploring adventure. The region receives heavy rainfall from time to time but remains open from May to October. For resting A GMVN Gurudwara and rest houses is available close to Ghangaria.
