Located at the 27 kms from Dwarahat and 10 kms away from Doonagiri, are the popular caves of
Pandukholi which believed to build by Pandavs during their 1 year exile period as stated in
Mahabharata. Pandukholi, situated nearby Kumaon Himalayas is an amazing picturesque place well
known for its holy temple uphill a peak at 8000 ft. To reach here at these scenic caves, you need to trek
about 5 km from the after Dunagiri temple.
A visit to seasonal lake can be a unique day picnic. Taragtal or Tarag Lake is one of the hidden beauties
of Uttarakhand state. This lake is having about 2 kilometers length and 0.5 kilometer breadth. It has the

Dwarahat is a small beautiful town and nagar panchayat in the district of Almora, Uttrakhand State.
Situated at the distance of 18 kilometers from Chaukhutia, Dwarahat is set up at an altitude of 1510
meters in the region Kumaon hills of Almora, Uttrakhand. This place is also known as “the Village of
Temples”. There are about 8 ancient temples multifaceted spread all over the place. Here you feel the
real closeness with God. As the name describes, Dwarahat meaning way of Heaven where Dwara means
way or path and Hat means Heaven. Several temples in this place are poor in condition as they belong to
10th and 12th century. Dwarahat gives an amazing and scenic view of snowy magnificent Himalayan and is
an ideal place for peaceful holiday. Local languages spoken in Dwarahat are Garhwali, Kumaoni, English
and Hindi. Best timing to visit this place would be Sep- Oct and Feb- April.
Lakhan Pur Temple
Located at the distance of 6 kilometers from Chaukhutia on Jorasi-Chaukhutia road, Lakhanpur temple is
sacred place to visit. This construction work of this temple was done by the Katyuri kings. Every year in
the month of October and November, a small fair is held in the land of Lakhanpur Temple where you can
see the overwhelming gathering of people.
Rudeshwar Mahadev Temple
Situated at 50 kilometer away from Ranikhet in Sanana, Bhikiasain- Chaukhutia road along the bank of
Ram Ganga River Rudeshwar Mahadev Temple is one of the oldest and holy temples of Lord Shiva in
Kumaon region. It is believed that Lord Ram worshipped here in this temple that's why the river named
"Ram Ganga". Marks on the, temple's walls and Shivlings represents that here worshipped been held for
long time, Almora's major Shivratri Mela is being held in this temple. If you are follower of Lord Shiva
